After all you put me through
you'd think I'd despise you
but in the end, I want to thank you
because you made me that much stronger
San Antonio, Texas; a tourist attraction, home of the Spurs, and a wonderful vacation spot. But if you look past the highrises, cars, and grafitti, you'll find that it is the home to five packs of dogs. These dogs consist of Loners, Strays, Ranch dogs, and even a few pets. But even though their titles may be deciving, these dogs all have personalities that differ.
When I thought I knew you
thinking that you were true
I guess I, I couldn't trust
Called your bluff, time is up
In the early 80's, San Antonio was a relaxed kind of atmosphere, though still an attraction, people could live here with their pets in happiness. Many dogs roamed the streets, their packs were strong as they patrolled their terratories. All the packs knew their places in San Antonio, and no loners would question their power.
You where there by my side
always down for the ride
But your joy ride just came down in flames
cause your greed sold me out of shame
The Reminder Pack, their traditions that run through their veins. Moving with their elders that have watched the pups grow old beside them. The River Pack, that roams the San Antonio River Walk day and night, but never seen. Providing the eerie song to the moon. The Canyon Pack, roaming the tretcherous Oak Woods Ranch, trying to stay alive on the little food that seeps into their paws. Stone Paw Pack, living in Alamo Heights, running around on the play ground at the elementary schools and giving the children a laugh. And last but not least, The Bridge Pack, the darkest of the packs that lives on the legendary, Donkey Lady Bridge. No one bothers them out of fear.
After all of the cheating and stealing
you'd probably think that I hold resentment for you
But, uh uh, oh no, you're wrong
cause if it wasn't for all that you tried to do
I wanna know just how capable I am to pull through
So I wanna say thank you
San Antonio has grown plenty just in the past 20 years, putting many of the former packs out of a home, splitting up families between humans. Some don't know where their pups or mates are, but they live on.....fighting to regain what is rightfully theirs. Many of the elder dogs were killed or taken into into the ASPCA, the younger ones, placed in different human's homes. Very few of the original dogs remain with eachother. But will there be a change in the wind? Will the packs be able to rebuild themselves into their former glory?
Cause it makes me that much stronger
makes me work a little bit harder
It makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
made me learn a little bit faster
made my skin a little bit thicker
makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter
